One-stop (craft) bottle shop opens in Grey Lynn

Take your taste buds on a journey of discovery and explore Auckland’s most extensive range of craft beer at the new Bottle Stop.

Craft beers take centre stage in the store and with 300+ options available, there’s something to suit even the most discerning beer drinker. The range covers everything from easy drinking lagers, through to strong barrel aged, sour beers and a few ‘world famous in New Zealand' beer options.

For those yet to catch on to the trend – never fear, there's a carefully selected range of boutique wines and locally made craft spirits just for you.

Owned and operated by craft beer aficionado Rich Yong, Bottle Stop offers both local and international beer varieties – all hand-picked and tested by Yong himself. Having spent the past 16 years in London working for brands such as Camden Town Brewery and more recently Garage Project (in NZ), Yong knows a thing or two about the subject and was keen to bring a specialist beer store to New Zealand.

Bottle Stop wants Kiwis to learn, discover and experience beer in all its forms. So much so that the team will be offering ‘Beer 101’ workshops, to help you get to know the different brew blends and make informed consumption decisions.

All bottled and canned beers will be showcased within fridges to maintain the quality of the beverage and will be separated by beer style. Featuring four rotating beer taps, punters can try before they buy from the ever-changing options, as well as fill a flagon with the desired brew. Bottle Stop will also have access to some super rare international beers that don’t usually make its way down to our shores, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

“I believe that beer is for everyone, and want the shop to be welcoming and open to all, regardless of their beer knowledge. From the beer novice (who is encouraged to break the seal with a 101 workshop) to new entrants into craft beer, right through to the geeks of the brewing world. Bottle Stop is an unpretentious gateway into the wonderful world of beer”, says Yong.

In the coming weeks, punters will be able to enjoy a tasting paddle in the comfort of the store. Tap beers will be paired with a meat and cheese board using local artisan suppliers, allowing you to get the full experience and take your time enjoying the tap range.

If you’re after something different for your Friday night office drinks, the Bottle Stop team have you covered with their weekly beer delivery. Order online and you’ll receive a mixed case of beer from a new brewery each week, delivered directly to your office door.

To celebrate the launch, Bottle Stop will be collaborating with Auckland’s Behemoth Brewing Company offering a limited edition beer on flagon fill only.

While Auckland locals will be able to pop into the store six days a week, those further afield will be able to cruise the range via the online store.  The bottle Stop opens on 15 November and is located at 5 Vinegar Lane, Grey Lynn.
